This year in Cairns, the team at Make Ways Foundation wanted to find another way to bring the fantastic running community together, so Jos decided to host the film festival, do all the co-ordinating so that you can come, connect with friends, sit back, relax and watch something that you love doing and be inspired by the strength and resilience demonstrated by these determined athletes!
If you are grateful for the opportunity to watch the film festival, perhaps you would like to support Make Ways Foundation buy making a donation with your ticket or buying some raffle tickets!

Sobah Yoga!
Make Ways Foundation hosted an afternoon of immersion and wellbeing. We stretched and were guided through yoga & breathwork, along with music to float away with and sound healing didgeridoo. Followed by one hour of native foods and Sobah drinks for all to connect over. This came at a poignant time of year for many people who were looking ahead to a full and fun festive season. People who were unable to come to the yoga section of our afternoon, purchased a ticket for the second half of our afternoon – connecting with community, native foods, Sobah drinks and raffle prizes.
Tickets to this afternoon included a give away yoga package and more prizes.
Your generous participation and tickets contributed towards the running of our new sports store in Sierra Leone. The store has recently been named Make Ways Sports – “Na wi youne”, a name selected by our young employees over in Freetown.
What a night at Bongo Bingo Bonanza!
The team at Make Ways Foundation hosted a one-of-a-kind event of laughter, entertainment, and good vibes. The fundraising event raised a whopping $9000 and ALL proceeds will contribute to our current projects – including shipping a container filled with pre-loved sports gear to Sierra Leone.
We thank all of our amazing supporters for coming to the fun event and/or purchasing tickets to our huge raffle. Congratulations to the 15 winners of some incredible prizes!
We couldn’t have put on such a successful night without the generous support of heaps of local businesses who donated prizes or food and drink for the night.
Plenti tenki – Thank you so much!
We sent 20 athletes to the Sierra Leone Marathon!
The Sierra Leone Marathon made its return to the streets of Makeni and the Make Ways Foundation supported 20 athletes to participate in such an amazing event.
Our incredible sponsors not only helped the athletes reach the start line, but also made their dreams come true by providing them with new shoes, race entry and shirt, transport, accommodation, food, and safe drinking water.
The marathon took place in the town of Makeni, the third-largest city in Sierra Leone, about 177 kilometres east of Freetown (the capital).
The majority of the marathon was run on hard-packed mud roads and some tarmac. The route took in some of the most beautiful scenes of northern Sierra Leone. Starting off in the town of Makeni and passing stunning landscape featuring the Mabole river, Yelisanda junction and the Wusum Hill.
Well done to all the athletes… Your efforts were truly inspiring!
Individual athlete sponsorships were very popular and will again be available annually!
We had a blast at the Make Ways Foundation Launch Party!
The beaming smiles are a sure sign that the official Make Ways Foundation launch party was everything we could have hoped for (and more!). Awesome tunes, cool merch, delectable food, flowing drinks, incredible people, we had it all. We’re all still buzzing after raising over $8000 on the night!
But we couldn’t have done it without our friends and sponsors’ support, who contributed so much to our gala launch. Balter Brewing, Black Hops Brewing, Capricorn Distilling Co, Currumbin Valley Brewing, Gerler Wines, Lost Palms Brewing Co, and Sobah Beverages, to name a few.
All these teams supported our launch by offering their unique range of products (and it went down a treat!). Thanks so much for your support, guys. It is very much appreciated.
